Difficult Conversation

Give Feedback With Clarity and Confidence

Have you ever rehearsed a feedback conversation in your head a dozen times and then said nothing? You're not alone. Most leaders avoid feedback, not because they don't care, but because they don't know what to say. So they wait. The problem grows. The relationship gets more complicated. And the conversation that could have taken ten minutes turns into a performance issue that takes months.

Here's what I know after decades in the trenches coaching leaders at every level: feedback is not a personality trait. It's a skill. And like every leadership skill, it can be learned.

This workshop gives you the frameworks and the language to stop winging it and start saying what needs to be said, clearly, respectfully, and without spending three days dreading it first.

You'll learn how to give positive feedback that actually reinforces the behaviors you want to see more of, not just "great job" that people forget by noon. You'll learn how to deliver constructive feedback that improves performance without damaging trust. And you'll learn how to prepare for the conversations that keep you up at night, the ones where someone is going to push back, get defensive, or maybe cry.

This is not a theory-heavy class. There's no lecture on the history of feedback models. It's a hands-on, four-hour workshop built around real leadership scenarios, proven frameworks, and practical language you can use the next day.

You'll also learn how to use AI as a thinking partner to prepare and rehearse before hard conversations, not to sound scripted, but to show up clear instead of anxious.

You'll leave with tools, language, and the confidence to handle feedback conversations before they become bigger problems than they need to be.

Because the cost of avoiding feedback isn't zero. It's the disengaged employee you kept too long, the behavior that never changed because nobody said anything, and the credibility you quietly lost every time you looked the other way.

You can do this. Let's get tactical.

ABOUT JANET PLY

I grew up on a small farm where hard work was a way of life, which drove me to earn four degrees and spend 25+ years inside organizations from startups to Fortune 50 companies recovering troubled projects. What I discovered changed everything: projects weren't failing because of technology - they were failing because leaders didn't know how to lead. After years of experiencing brutal burnout, toxic leadership, and watching brilliant technical people get passed over or promoted without support, I made an intentional shift in 2017 to focus exclusively on leadership development for high-performing technical professionals. My mission is simple: help technical leaders become the kind of leader others want to work for - respected, clear, strategic, and trusted - because leadership isn't magic or innate, it's a skill set that can be learned, and technical talent represents the most untapped leadership pipeline in organizations today.
